Portrayal of Fanny Brin – 20th Century Leader
August 6 at the Minnesota History Center
Join us for a live performance featuring Maren Hinderlie as the inspriting Fanny Brin, former NCJW President of NCJW (1932 -1938). Brin was born in Romania and emigrated to Minneapolis at a young age. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, she married and had three children. While dedicated to her domestic role, Brin also served as National Council of Jewish Women president. In this and other leadership roles, Brin focused on peace issues and supporting world disarmament. She helped found the World Affairs Council and Center at the University of Minnesota. In 1945, she was part of the U.S. delegation to the first United Nations Peace Conference,
Details: We’ll gather at the Sabes JCC at 11:00 a.m. to prepare to carpool, and then leave promptly at 11:30 a.m. We’ll have lunch together at the History Center Cafeteria at 12 noon, followed by the performance at 1:00 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults/$8 for kids at the door (free to History Center members). Attendees are responsible for buying their own lunch. You do not need to be an NCJW member to join us for this educational event.
