Stuff For School
Stuff for School is a community service project originally developed in partnership with 3M to help at-risk children in the Minneapolis Public Schools start school prepared to learn, Stuff for School provides students with a complete package of school supplies on the first day of each new school year.
Unlike other school supply drives, Stuff for School does not simply take random donations of school supplies and distribute them to students. Instead, Stuff for School volunteers meet with district administrators, curriculum advisors and teachers to come up with a list of the most necessary and useful supplies for the students. Then we raise funds to supply the most at-risk kids and their school with exactly what has been suggested. Another way that Stuff for School is unique is that we distribute the supplies to the school so as not to single out the kids in need.
To date, we have provided school supplies for more than 130,000 students in need! If you are interested in being on the planning committee or volunteering in the warehouse in August, please contact the NCJW office.
This community service project is made possible through the generosity of the 3M Foundation, the General Mills Foundation, Thomson Reuters Community Relations and the support of many individual NCJW members and donors. Many thanks!
